Case Study
Global Shipping Organization
Chief Operating Officer – Jamie Smith
Problem Statement
Client is a $2bn organization in the Shipping industry. The client transformed its Operating Model because of changes in their go to market strategy and overall approach with customers. As part of the client’s transformation a new Chief Operating Officer was promoted. Wewere asked to serve as the Executive Coach and Mentor for the new Chief Operating Officer. This also was part of grooming the COO to take over as the CEO role within the next 3-4 years.
Engagement Approach
Our Executive Coaching approach was tailored to the company’s specific needs as well as the Chief Operating Officer coaching expectations and objectives. In particular, considering the newly designed Operating Model that was eventually blessed by the Board. Over the course of 18 months we served as the Executive Coach to the COO, including working with his leadership team to drive the implementation of the new Operating Model. After another 12 months the Operating Model was fulling in place and our COO was ready to take over in the CEO role.
Results
Our Executive Coaching work with the COO was successful starting with his promotion to the COO role. We were instrumental in support of the Operating Model transformation as part of our mentoring effort with the COO. They realized major decreases in their cost structure as well advances in the digital context relative to the Operating Model transformation.
