IT Operating Model Design And Transformation
Problem Statement
Chief Information Officer was brought into a struggling IT Organization on supply maturity and delivery challenges with its Business Partner. The organization was performing at low levels of maturity (“Utility levels or lower, low quality client satisfaction, and inconsistent delivery. CIO’s goal was to improve alignment with its Business Partner, overall higher performance, while transforming IT to higher levels of maturity.
Engagement
Our engagement approach incorporated a Three-Phased process, starting with Phase I, a rapid assessment of the IT Organization to validate and confirm the challenges by the CIO in our early discussions.
Phase II
Reflected a detailed analysis and transformation of the major IT Operating Model components (Processes, Governance, Roles & Responsibilities, Operating Principles, Org. Structure, Metrics, Culture, and Infrastructure) using our proprietary Supply & Demand Maturity Curve framework, best “fit” practices, and subject matter experts.
Phase III
Represented a detailed business case analysis and establishing an actionable roadmap to enable the transformation of the IT Operating Model.
Results
We improved and ultimately moved the IT Organization from a low Level 1 maturity to a solid level 2 within an 18-months covering the Operating Model components mentioned above. Our business case effort identified over 20% improvement in cost savings within the 18-month roadmap execution timeframe through “quick hit” opportunities as well as rationalized assets and improved / new capabilities (sourcing, etc.).
