Case Study

Global Chemical Company

IT Strategy Design and Implementation

Problem Statement

Our client in this case is a global Chemical and Consumer Products organization.  Our engagement kicked off with a newly hired Chief Information Officer who felt strongly that IT cost structures were significantly hire than industry benchmarks were showing, IT was not fully aligned with the needs of the business and IT’s governance and overall organizational structures were out of balance from a Business unit focus/delivery to the Corporate / Enterprise personnel.

Engagement Approach

Our role was initially to bring the entire IT Leadership into an IT Strategy design engagement to identify and document what and how “IT operate (supply side), organize, govern and measure three years into the future”.  This included an articulation of its ability to manage and shape Business demand as well as build the IT Supply muscle for the future or “next state”.   Upon completion of the IT Strategy effort we worked with the CIO and his Leadership team to communicate and cascade the new developed IT Strategy to the global IT organization as well as the new IT Operating Principles that would dictate the new ways of Operating both for the Business as well as IT for IT.

Results

With the success of the IT Strategy work, we were then engaged to implement specific Pillars of the IT Strategy including, Governance, Organizational design changes, Operating Excellence, and developing new muscle in Business Innovation and Digital as a Center of Excellence.
